Measures to prevent COVID-19 infection

Visitor Guidelines

In order to prevent the spread of the COVID19, we ask for your cooperation in the following measures.
1.When you enter the museum, we will take your temperature using a non-contact thermometer. Please refrain from coming to the museum, if you have a fever or cold, even if it is mild.
2.Please try to keep as much space between you and other people as possible.
3.Please disinfect your hands and fingers.
4.Please wear a mask.
5.If you would like to visit the museum in a group, you must make a reservation by phone.
6.When entering the museum, the representative of the group will be asked to fill out a contact form (personal information will be handled with the utmost care).
7.Please use gloves in the exhibition rooms to prevent contact infection.
  Please do not touch the walls or display cases in the museum.
8.We ask for your cooperation in disinfection and ventilation in the museum.

Opening information

Hours of Operation:09:00-16:00
Final admission is a half hour before the closing time. It takes around one hour to see all of the areas.
Closed days
 March to November: Open everyday
 December to February: Sundays, National Holidays and
             Year-end / New Year holidays (Dec. 26 to Jan. 5)

Restrictions on entry related to COVID-19 were partially lifted from June 20 (Mon.).

●March 8, 2022

Based on the recent situation of new coronavirus infection, visitors from outside Akita Prefecture will not be allowed to enter the museum from January 14 (Fri.).

●November 30, 2021

Restrictions on entry related to COVID 19 were partially lifted from November 6 (Sat.).

●August 11, 2021

The museum will be temporarily closed on September 4 (Sat.) due to a power outage caused by maintenance of electrical equipment. We are sorry for the inconvenience this may cause, and thank you for your understanding.

●July 19, 2021

The museum will open on Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays from July 22 (Thu). Please note that the museum will remain open to visitors from Akita Prefecture only. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and thank you for your understanding.

●June 25, 2021

The museum will be open only on weekdays and closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays from June 26 (Sat) for the time being. We will notify you on our website when we reopen on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and thank you for your understanding.

●April 2, 2021

Visitors from outside Akita Prefecture are not allowed to visit the museum due to the COVID19. We are sorry for the inconvenience this may cause and thank you for understanding.
